Honan Fellows – Personal Profiles 2004-2005…in their own words

The front row: Rep. Honan, Ainsley Castro, Kimberly Moreta, Shatara Rutledge, Ryan Westerfield (Boston College PULSE volunteer), Eloy Sanchez-Zavalu, Drew Bowman • In back: Aoife Martin & Michael Bianchi

My name is Ainsley Castro. I live in Mattapan and am in the 11th grade at Weston High School. I am in the Honan Fellowship to get a better understanding of politics and to get to know new people. I enjoy any activities that deal with the community, so this was a great opportunity. I love to work out and have a great sweat and I enjoy volunteering.

My name is Aoife Martin and I am currently a junior at Boston Latin School. I became a Honan Fellow because I enjoy politics and like to talk and learn about other people’s opinions on topics that affect my life as a teenager and as a member of the Allston/Brighton community. I am the Assistant Tech Director (person who is partly in charge of all the“tech,” i.e. lights, sound, set, etc.) of the Drama club at my school and I dedicate a lot of time to Drama, especially right before a play goes up.

My name is Drew R. Bowman and I am in the 10th grade at Matignon High School. I am very athletic and play three varsity sports. My virtue would probably have to be courage because I can stand up for myself and show a lot of heart. I am a Honan fellow because it is a good way to help out in my community and learn things about the government. I hope to grasp and take those things with me throughout life's journey, wherever it takes me

My name is Michael Bianchi and I am in the 10th grade at Odyssey High in South Boston. I live in Brighton. I am a Honan Fellow because it's a great way to get connections to the government and community. I enjoy listening to music and playing video games.

Ainsley Castro, Shatara Rutledge, Kevin McCluskey, and Dawnn Jaffier.

My name is Kimberly Moreta. I am a junior at Hyde Park High School. I’m 16, and I’m from the Dominican Republic. My two interests are watching and playing baseball and helping my mother out. I am a Fellow because I want to learn more about my surroundings and I wanted to learn about who represents me.

Hello, my name is Eloy Sanchez and I am 15 years old. I am a 10th grader at TechBoston Academy. I like to play and coach soccer. I also like to write raps and freestyle with my friends.

Hello, my name is Dawnn Jaffier. I’m 16 years old and I’m in the 11th grade at the John D. O’Bryant School of Mathematics & Science in Roxbury. An interesting factoid about me is that I am very multiracial. My family is from Great Britain, Belize, Honduras, and Grenada. Another fact is that I’m determined. I applied for Boys & Girls Clubs’ Youth of the Year twice and have been denied twice, but I won’t give up! I’m trying again, if I’m nominated. I joined Honan because I wanted a new experience and I’m on the mayor’s youth council, which deals with government, so I wanted a better background in government.

My name is Shatara Stacy Smith Rutledge. I am 16 years old and I am in the 10th grade at the Boston Community Leadership Academy. I have a son, Takwan Jelyn Rutledge, who is nine months old. I have a busy schedule with school, homework, and taking care of my son. I also like to spend time with my cousin.
